Vintage Underground

Chicago vintage

Vintage Underground is like walking into your grandmother's closet — if her closet was giant and completely overflowing with copious amounts of hats, handbags, clothes and most importantly, the jewelry. VU on North Avenue is probably thee best spot to find everything from chic and affordable costume jewelry to beautiful antique gems and treasures. The majority of the basement shop is devoted to glass cases full of rhinestone encrusted baubles, racks and racks of gold chain necklaces and trays of vintage clip-on earrings, while the perimeter displays lovely finds like 1950s fur hats, lace gloves, chain belts and few racks of carefully selected garments. A few cases are devoted to men's accessories also, like vintage cuff links and tie clips, bow ties and fedoras.

I could go on listing all of the amazing things that VU has to offer, but this post would get real long, real fast. It's a vintage jewelry collector's dream come true so be sure to check it out if you find yourself in the area (and if you're like me and don't want to miss a single thing, good luck getting in and out in under an hour).
